Welcome to Ms. Jakubowski's Pre-K Class! 

March Newsletter

During the month of March, we will learn about Lent and Easter.  Towards the end of the month, we will begin a new unit, Plants.

Some of the ELA standards that we will cover are: 

-With prompting and supporting, retell, dramatize, or illustrate a story that has been read aloud, including characters, a beginning, and an ending

-With prompting and support, ask and answer who, what, where, when, and why questions about a nonfiction/informational text

-With prompting and support, given a sound and a choice of two words, choose the word that begins with the given sound

-Blend two spoken syllables, saying the whole word

We will begin our 4th math module, comparison of length, weight, and capacity.  This module will last the next 5-6 weeks. 

The standards we will cover are:

-Compare numbers

-Describe and compare measurable attributes (length and weight)

For religion, we will learn about Lent and Easter.  We will also work on doing kind things for others to prepare our hearts for Easter.

In science, we will plant seeds and observe what happens as they begin to grow.

During social studies, we will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and make some shamrock decorations to send to some of the assisted living facilities near us as a service project.

Friday, May 19th- Field Trip to Vanderbilt Planetarium 
Monday, May 22nd- Faith Fair 
Friday, June 9th - Father’s Day Breakfast from 8:30-9:30 in the library

Wednesday, June 14th  - Moving Up Ceremony at 10:00AM in the gym   

Homework Week of March 27th to March 31st

1.     Practice writing their first and last name. The sheet is posted into the notebook.

2.     On their own, please have your child write their full address.   

3.     Letter matching worksheet. 
4. Find 2 things in your home that are heavy and 2 things in your home that are light. Draw and label them in your notebook. 

5.    Practice tracing the letter U / u . Upper case and lower case 3 times each.

6.  Read a book every day!
