Art K-8

Tessellation
tessellation

Ars longa, vita brevis.  Life is short, art is long. -Hippocrates

In grades 3-8, our first project this year is about tessellations. Tessellations are irregular tiling patterns that have been used in art and decoration for thousands of years. Students will design their own tile, lay out a pattern, and decorate their tiles. Tessellation touches on art, design, history, math, and lateral thinking. This unit will last for four or five classes.
