Hello! Welcome to Pre-K!
I am very excited to teach Pre-K this year at St. Brigid / Our Lady of Hope Regional School. So many great things will happen in our class! Our objectives this year are to help better your child for kindergarten emotionally, socially, and academically in a positive and nurturing environment. I am looking forward to an enriching and rewarding school year!
We will continue our ELA and literacy unit of study, All About Me. We will be continuing with the five senses, three basic needs, and the differences between infants, children, and adults.
Some of the ELA standards that we will cover are:
-With prompting and support, ask and answer who, what, where, when and why questions about a fiction read-aloud.
-With prompting and support, make cultural connections to text and self.
-Recognize and name some upper and lowercase letters of the alphabet, especially those in own name.
-Memorize and recite with others a simple nursery rhyme, poem, or song.
We will continue our first math module for next few weeks.
The standards we will cover are:
-Know number names and the count sequence.
-Count to tell the number of objects.
-Understand simple patterns.
-Sort objects and count the number of objects in each category.
For science, we will continue to study the autumn. We will observe what happens as the season progresses and the changes we see.
