When children are having difficulty in school, teachers recognize that a learning disability may be present. Teachers and the Principal may recommend an educational evaluation to determine if a child has a learning disability.
Stu dents attending non-public schools are evaluated by the district where the non-public school is located. In our case that is the Westbury School District. This evaluation is done at no cost to you. Evaluations may also be done privately.
An educational evaluation cannot proceed without the written consent of the child’s parent or legal guardian. If the school recommends that a child be tested for a learning disability, it is imperative that the evaluation is done in a timely manner. In order for a child to continue attending St. Brigid/Our lady of Hope, families must cooperate with the school’s recommendation to request an educational evaluation on behalf of their child.
